My Business Philosophy

My goal is to be a great salesperson, to provide excellent service, to be the best agent for the job. My goal is to be the best. Period.

About SALES: I ENJOY being a salesperson! To be a great salesperson is an art! You truly have to listen to your clients needs and then determine how you can help fill those needs.

When I first started working as a real estate salesperson, some of my good friends expressed stunned disbelief. When I asked why, they explained that they viewed most real estate salespeople as slime, only slightly higher on the evolutionary scale than used car salespeople. (My apologies to all the great real estate and used car salespeople out there - you know who you are!) Part of the problem is that œselling is a transitive verb and requires an object, in other words, we sell TO someone. Selling isn't done in isolation. The thing is, none of us like to have something done TO us, and so we resist salespeople. Therefore, I look at my job as a real estate CONSULTANT. My role is to consult with you by listenening to your needs and seeing how I can best serve you. Only if I provide excellent service, will you be willing to buy from me - and that's how it should be.

About SERVICE: I ENJOY being of service to others. The word derives from the Latin root meaning œfrom and œserve meaning œservice of course. In other words, when you deserve something, it comes from being of service. And I love being of service to others! It™s how each of us feels fulfilled! It™s what brings value to our lives. My goal is to provide you with such excellent service that after I am finished assisting you buy or sell a home, that you will be so thoroughly satisfied that you will tell all your friends and family about me. And when we'™re done, I often found I'™ve just gained myself another very good friend for life. It™s a very gratifying experience. If you'™d like, I have several past clients, who would be happy to discuss with you the services I was able to provide to them and how happy they were with those services.

And what level of service will make you feel so happy that you would refer people you know and trust to me? It comes down to the Golden Rule. I treat people the way I'd like to be treated myself, by providing the same level of service that I'™d like to receive myself.

About being the BEST AGENT for the job: Real estate is a very crowded, competitive field. Just ask anyone who is in the business. Contrary to popular opinion, being a real estate agent is NOT easy money. I work on a contingency fee basis. ONLY if everything goes right and the transaction successfully closes, do I earn my commission. Essentially the real estate business model is to work for free, work for free, work for free and then, only if everything goes right and everyone is happy, do we get paid. As you can imagine, being in real estate is a risky business. It'™s also a relatively easy business to get into and so lots of new people try it every year. But because it is so risky, and because it is far, far harder than it might appear, the failure rate is high and only a small percentage of new agents still find themselves in the business many years later.

And so how do you survive? How do you make it? How do you become successful in real estate? The same way you do in any other field. By being the best. And that'™s my goal - to be the best! It's a wonderful goal because it means that I will ALWAYS be moving towards that goal, learning new skills, improving myself, so that I can provide better service to my clients and to be the best agent I can possibly be.

One final note: I am not just a real estate salesperson. I am a REALTOR® and I'™m VERY proud of that. It takes only takes a real estate license to become a real estate salesperson. It takes committing to a written Code of Ethics to become a REALTOR®.
