History of Homewood, Alabama

Homewood is a city in Jefferson County, Alabama. It is a suburb of Birmingham and is located on the other side of Red Mountain due south of the city center, but also has one of the highest population densities in Alabama. As of 2005 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 23,963.
