Truckee is famous for its yearly rodeo, drawing in residents from California and Nevada with ease.  A popular pastime for a good portion of the year is spending time at one of the four major ski resorts nearby: Squaw Valley, Northstar at Tahoe, Alpine Meadows and Sugar Bowl.  Tourists often stop to pay respect to history at the Donner Memorial State Park which, along with a tribute to the Donners, has 2.5 miles of hiking trails.
