History of Garden City, Idaho

Garden City is a city in Ada County, Idaho|Ada County, Idaho, United States. The population was 10,624 at the 2000 census. Garden City is completely surrounded by Boise, Idaho|Boise but retains a separate municipal government.

Garden City was named for gardens raised by Chinese immigrants who lived in the area. Chinden Boulevard, the city's main street, is also named for these gardens (via contraction: CHINese GarDEN).
