History of Hutchinson, Kansas

Hutchinson is the largest city and county seat of Reno County, Kansas|Reno County, Kansas, {{convert|219|mi|km|0|lk=on}} west of Kansas City, Missouri, on the Arkansas River. In 1900, 9,379 people lived in Hutchinson; in 1910, 16,364; in 1920, 23,398; and in 1940, 30,013. The population was 40,787 at the United States Census 2000|2000 census. Hutchinson's nickname is The Edible salt|Salt City.
