Massachusetts, home to approximately 6.5 million residents, is, like most of the region, growing slowly and steadily. Massachusetts was the sixth of the original 13 colonies, and therefore is home to some interesting history. It is the site of the nation's first planned industrial city, the first subway, the first public park, and the first college in North America (Harvard).
