History of Moorhead, Minnesota
Moorhead is a city in Clay County, Minnesota|Clay County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 32,177 at the United States Census 2000|2000 census, while a 2006 estimate lists it at 38,346. It is the county seat of Clay CountyGeographic references|6.
The city is on the border between North Dakota and Minnesota, defined by the Red River of the North. Fargo, North Dakota is located across the river. The two communities make up the metropolitan area of Fargo-Moorhead.
The city has three institutions of higher learning: Minnesota State University Moorhead (a public university), Concordia College, Moorhead|Concordia College, (a four-year private college), and Minnesota State Community and Techical College (a two-year to four-year technical college).
