It is situated at the junction of the Missouri River|Missouri and Kansas Rivers (Kaw Point) and sits opposite Kansas City, Kansas|Kansas City, Kansas. It is the largest city in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, it is the most populous city in Missouri, the seventh List of Midwestern cities by size|largest city in the Midwestern United States|Midwest, and the 40th List of United States cities by population|most populous city in the United States.
