The Clark County, Nevada|Clark County Comprehensive Planning Department estimate placed the population at 190,129 as of July 1,2006.[http://www.co.clark.nv.us/comprehensive_planning/Advanced/Demographics/2006PopulationEstimate/2006PlacePopulation.pdf Clark County Demographic Department] As an unincorporated part of Clark County, it is governed by the Clark County Commission. It also contains McCarran International Airport. Therefore, many tourists visiting "Las Vegas" actually spend most of their time in Paradise. For many of the townships south of Las Vegas City limits (including Paradise, Winchester, and Spring Valley) the USPS assigns “Las Vegas, NV†as the last line of their address rather than “Paradise, NVâ€, “Winchester, NVâ€, Spring Valley, NV†etc. which adds to the confusion of what city or town you are in. Clark County has resisted efforts by the city of Las Vegas to annex The Strip.{{Fact|date=April 2007}}
