History of Concord, New Hampshire
Concord is the capital of the state of New Hampshire in the United States. As of the United States Census, 2000|2000 census, its population was 40,687. (The estimated population in 2005 was 42,221.[http://nh.gov/oep/programs/DataCenter/Population/documents/PUB_05.pdf "2005 Population Estimates of New Hampshire Cities and Towns", NH Office of Energy and Planning, July 2006]) It is the county seat of Merrimack County, New Hampshire|Merrimack County.
Concord includes the villages of Penacook, New Hampshire|Penacook, East Concord and West Concord. The city is home to the Franklin Pierce Law Center, New Hampshire's only law school; St. Paul's School (Concord, New Hampshire)|St. Paul's School, a private University-preparatory school|preparatory school; New Hampshire Technical Institute, a two-year community college; and the Granite State Symphony Orchestra.
