History of Exeter, New Hampshire
Exeter is a town located in Rockingham County, New Hampshire|Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA. Along with neighboring Brentwood, New Hampshire|Brentwood, Exeter is the county seat of Rockingham County. The town's population was 14,058 at the 2000 census. Home to the Phillips Exeter Academy, a private university-preparatory school, Exeter is situated where the Exeter River feeds the tidal Squamscott River.
