History of Laconia, New Hampshire

Laconia is a city in Belknap County, New Hampshire|Belknap County, New Hampshire, USA. The population was 16,411 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Belknap County, New Hampshire|Belknap County.{{GR|6}} Laconia, situated near Lake Winnipesaukee, includes the villages of Lakeport, New Hampshire|Lakeport and Weirs Beach, New Hampshire|Weirs Beach. Each June, the city hosts Laconia Motorcycle Week, one of the country's largest motorcycle rally|rallies, and each winter, the Laconia World Championship dogsled|Sled Dog Derby. Laconia includes a branch of the New Hampshire Community Technical Colleges.
