History of Silver City, New Mexico

Silver City is a town in Grant County, New Mexico|Grant County, New Mexico, in the United States. As of the United States Census, 2000|2000 census, the town population was 10,545. It is the county seat of Grant County, New Mexico|Grant County{{GR|6}}. The city marked the end of "the race" in the 2001 movie Rat Race (film)|Rat Race, though scenes depicting the town were actually filmed in Ely, Nevada. The city is also the home of Western New Mexico University.
