Graduation - Students Give Durham, NC a Good Name
2007-08 was a great year, and we look forward to even better things in 2008-09.
A record 1,940 students are graduating from Durham Public Schools this year. On June 9 and 10, the district's six traditional high schools held graduation ceremonies at Duke University's Cameron Indoor Stadium. Valedictorians shared words of wisdom, tassels were turned, cameras flashed and final goodbye hugs were everywhere.
Durham Public Schools has bolstered its efforts to prepare students for college and the work force. As a result, our graduates have been accepted into 155 colleges or universities, and have racked up more than $11.5 million in scholarships to many fine institutions, including Harvard, Duke and the U.S. Naval Academy.
