History of Reading, Pennsylvania
Reading (IPA:{{IPA|/ˈrɛdɪŋ/}}) is the county seat of Berks County, Pennsylvania and the center of the Greater Reading Area. In the United States Census 2000|2000 census, the city had a population of 81,207, making it the fifth largest city in Pennsylvania after Philadelphia, Pennsylvania|Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania|Pittsburgh, Allentown, Pennsylvania|Allentown, and Erie, Pennsylvania|Erie, and the sixth largest municipality after Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania|Upper Darby Township.
