History of Rock Hill, South Carolina
Rock Hill is the largest city in York County, South Carolina and a satellite city of Charlotte, North Carolina. The population was 49,765 at the 2000 census. According to 2005 estimates, the city has a population of 59,554, making it the fourth largest city in South Carolina. The city is included in the Charlotte metropolitan area|Charlotte-Gastonia-Concord United States metropolitan area|metropolitan statistical area, which has a population of 1,521,278 according to the 2005 estimate by the U.S. Census Bureau.
