Smyrna is a town in Rutherford County, Tennessee|Rutherford County, Tennessee, United States. Smyrna's population was 26,614 people at the United States Census, 2000|2000 census. A special census was conducted by the Town in 2005 which showed a growth in population in excess of 31,000 people.
Smyrna is the location of a very large manufacturing facility for the Japan|Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan, and has been since 1982. For many years, this facility was regarded as arguably the largest and most productive of its type in the world.
