History of Bountiful, Utah
Bountiful is a city in Davis County, Utah|Davis County, Utah, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 41,301, a small increase over the 1990 figure of 37,544. The estimated population in 2004 was 41,173, a slight decrease from 2000. The city grew rapidly during the suburb growth of the late 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.
Although a part of the Ogden, Utah|Ogden-Clearfield, Utah|Clearfield MSA, it serves as a bedroom community to Salt Lake City and the surrounding area. Many residents who work in Salt Lake choose Bountiful for its sprawling suburban homes, family-oriented lifestyle, and low levels of crime. Commuters pay for these benefits in frequent traffic bottlenecks between Davis County, Utah|Davis and Salt Lake County, Utah|Salt Lake Counties, though the Legacy Highway and commuter rail projects are in place to ease these problems.
