History of Northfield, Vermont
Northfield is a town in Washington County, Vermont|Washington County, Vermont, United States. Northfield, though well known in the past as a railroad and textile center, is now in the process of recovering from a long economic decline which resulted from the closing of two major factories in the town. It has also been the home of Norwich University since 1866. The population was 5,791 at the 2000 census, but a 2005 estimate placed it at 5,816, an increase of 0.4%.
