West Virginia
West Virginia is approximately 24,000 square miles, 75% of which is covered in forests. Boasting a population of nearly 2 million people, West Virginia is rich in diversity. Until it gained statehood, West Virginia was a part of Virginia. It split and became the 35th state on June 20, 1863.
West Virginia is also known for its historical background. The first major battle between the Union and Confederate soldiers was fought on what is now West Virginia soil. West Virginia also started the first state sales tax and mail system that spread throughout the United States.
Buying a home in West Virginia is a great investment, not only monetarily, but culturally, historically and socially as well.
