History of Oak Hill, West Virginia
Oak Hill is a city in Fayette County, West Virginia|Fayette County, West Virginia, United States and is the primary city within the Oak Hill, WV Micropolitan Statistical Area which, as of July 2005 census data, had a population of 46,823. The Micropolitan Area is also included in the newly formed Beckley-Oak Hill, WV Combined Statistical Area. The current 2005 census data shows a city population of 7,372. It is perhaps best known as the place of death of country music legend Hank Williams. It is also the birthplace of harmonica player Charlie McCoy.
